Need some trusted info? Mamas must stick together! Salomien lives in Bloemfontein with her husband and baby boy Bernard. She shared some mama tips with us!

heart-iconIn which town / area do you stay?

Bloemfontein – Pellissier

heart-iconWho is your gynaecologist / which area / practice

Dr Ludwig van Zyl – Fichardtpark at Rosepark Hospital

heart-iconWho is your pediatrician and where?

Dr Gerhard Reyneke – Fichardtpark at Rosepark Hospital

heart-iconDid you go for prenatal classes and where?

We did the prenatal classes at Rosepark hospital on Tuesday nights – just call Sr Appeltjie– she is the best and has 20 years experience! Even though I can’t really remember a lot of what we have learned – it was a great place to meet other parents and see other mums with bumps!

heart-iconWhich breastfeeding clinic/nurse did you visit for weighing and immunisation?

Rosepark Baby Clinic – it is in Langenhoven park at the Pretty Garden Nursery– also the best! After immunisation mum can buy a treat at Iewers Nice or Caramellos!

heart-iconDid you exercise when you were pregnant?

I took swimming lessons with Brent Holmes and loved it! Karen Swanepoel gives preggi belly classes and after birth I did the Parkrun on Naval hill each Saturday. It was so nice to get back on track and each week you are competing against your own time! My husband always looked after our son for that two hours! Afterwards I sometimes went for coffee and breakfast with friends at Jack+Jill! I also used Izolde Viljoen 15 weeks after birth (had C-section) at North Ridge Virgin Active as personal trainer- she is fantastic! She does group training every morning and afternoon, such a beautiful woman and a true inspiration! You train hard-but you see the results!

heart-iconClose weekend getaway with kids

DeOudekraal Country Estate

heart-iconDo you have a favourite place to shop for kids’ stuff in your area?

I do a lot of online shopping – it is easy and delivered to my door!

heart-iconFavourite kiddie friendly restaurant?

Bob’s Peanut Butter Shack  (although a lot of people lately complained that it is a bit dirty). We also like Pretty Gardens in Langenhoven park – there is a coffeeshop called Iewers NiceEmoya – don’t go for the food but for the vibe on a sunny day! There is putt-putt and a few tame animals!

heart-iconFavourite date night restaurant and why?

What is a date night? Haha! Honestly- don’t think we have been on a date night since Bernard’s birth! If we do something we will rather go to a show or concert! I love cooking-so we prefer to braai at home! And there is nothing better than movie night on our couch with microwave popcorn!

heart-iconNanny or creche?

We have a nanny and we are so happy with her! We found her through Marvelous Maids – a great agency and they were so helpful!

heart-iconBirthday party venues you can recommend?

Kwaggakidz is the perfect place! | Emoya or Pretty Gardens is also nice and
if you would like to have it at home – you can contact Spot-on Events
