Clay is such an amazing way for children to express themselves. It is suitable for all ages and can be whipped up in no time at all. We found an easy recipe for edible clay on Handmade Charlotte and decided to give it a try. Why delay the fun because your toddler is more interested in eating the clay than playing with it – just make edible clay!
✚ 1 cup baby rice cereal
✚ 1 cup cornstarch
✚ 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
✚ any fruit puree – 100 – 125ml
✚ food colouring
- Mix all the dry ingredients. Add the vegetable oil, fruit puree and colouring and mix well with your hands. If the mixture is too wet add more rice cereal and too dry, add a few drops of water.
- We created some texture by adding crushed chocolate oatmeal biscuits. My son loved crushing the biscuits.
- The clay did not store well so I would suggest making a mess and discarding after play.
