Need some trusted info? Mamas must stick together!Erika du Plessis shares some helpful info.

heart-iconIn which town / area do you stay:

Stellenridge in Bellville

heart-iconWho is your gyneacologist?

Dr. JP du Buisson. He is at Panorama Medi Clinic. He is an excellent Dr with a calm and relaxed personality (he is an enthusiastic kite surfer so go figure) with four young children of his own so he can relate to all the general concerns and fears. He is very pro everything natural but will go with whatever the family wants/needs.

Who is your pediatrician?

Dr. Melissa Mouton. She is at both Panorama and Cape Gate Medi-Clinics. Again, I chose someone who is a parent of young children themselves so they can relate to your worries and fears better. She is extremely sweet!

Did you exercise when you were pregnant?

I exercised until 38 weeks under the care of a personal trainer (Stefan Nel) at his personal gym in Protea Heights in Brackenfell. It’s called Bodyformula Personal Training Studio and is now run by his wife, Nicolette Nel.

Favourite kiddie-friendly restaurant?

Dutch Haven (High Street, just behind Babycity) and Soet (Durbanville)

Favourite close weekend getaway with kids?

Langebaan (if we want to swim, the lagoon’s calm water is great, no big waves or rip currents that keep sweep little people off their feet) or Paternoster (if we want to take the dogs along, it is the most pet-friendly place on earth!)

Which breastfeeding clinic/nurse did you visit for weighing and immunisation?

We started out with Sr Lucille Burger untill she had to go on maternity leave herself. Now we visit Sr. Lizbe at the Clicks in the Glengarry Centre in Vredekloof, Brackenfell.

Did you go for prenatal classes? Can you recommend a pregnancy book?

We attended a course presented by Sr Lucille Burger in Durbanville. I also read a little book called Een Ma se Storie, written by Liesl Murray (co-owner of Pickalilly Kids) It was also extremely helpful to me!

Favourite place to shop for kids’ stuff in your area?

For general items (toiletries, toys, nappies, etc) I go to Babycity in High Street. For kids clothing and accessories: Pickalilly (online shop or at the shop in Stellenberg)

Favourite date night restaurant?

Zibaldone in the Tyger Waterfront. AMAZING food (mostly italian inspired), fantastic service and lovely relaxing atmosphere
