WITH FRIENDS: Halloween Forest run

Only the brave may enter this night-time race! The annual Dirtopia Halloween Forest Night Run sees fit and costumed athletes and fun-runners trek through the forest at Muratie Wine Estate in Stellenbosch on Saturday, 31 October 2015. Runners can sign up for either a 10- or 5-km trot; both routes traverse a single-track and give participants ample opportunity for ghost spotting at one of the Boland Winelands’ oldest wine farms (its history dates back to 1685). Prizes will be awarded to the top three ladies and men, and runners stand a chance to win spot prizes in the lucky draws. What’s more, all finishers will get a Halloween surprise and a soft drink. Registration will take place on the day at the venue from 5:30pm, and the race starts at 7pm for the 10-km and 7:15pm for the 5-km. Get more info here.

3WITH THE FAMILY: Go see the new movie Goosebumps

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl living right next door, Hannah. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine, the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… He is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books!

Goosebumps stars Jack Black and opens on 30 October 2015 – get more info here.
