A Little Thing Called … fun baby shower idea!

Racking your brain for ideas for an intimate and special babyshower? Here is your solution! We caught up with super creative florist, stylist and online shop owner Adelaine Breedt, mastermind behind A Little Thing Called.

1 Tell us how and why you decided to go into floral design?

My passion for floral design was evoked by my previous work experience – farming fresh cut roses for 4 years. Flowers are my passion and working with people is my nature – so in order for me to focus and discover my true style, I travelled abroad in 2014. Working with artists like Frederic Garrigues from France and Gang and the Wool in Spain through their teachings, contributed to me discovering my own style for creating simplistic artisan designs.

2Tell us more about Langkloof Roses?

Before I started a Little Thing Called I was part of the creative team of Langkloof Roses – managing and farming this beautiful place. This being a Rose Farm makes it an ideal location for Baby showers, Kitchen Teas or Wedding.  I’m still involved with the farm: hosting fun, floral workshops and rehearsal “feast to the table” dinners.

3Your business is an all-round experience – tell us more about the services you provide?

I assist with floral design and styling for your big day – floral artisan designs sought after by couples looking for a simplistic, attention to detail-styled event. I also host fun, floral workshops for kitchen teas and baby showers.

4What do you believe is a decor or style essential item for your home?

Indoor Plants! It adds tranquility, creates oxygen and brings life to a room!

5You have stunning products in your online store –

The idea with our online store is to showcase what we’ve done for previous clients. We offer hand selected unique gifts from R300 delivered directly to your door. Keep in mind our online store is mostly about GREEN DECOR so if you are looking to spoil a friend, pop online see what what we offer, place your order and within five days we will deliver.

6Tell us more about your baby shower package – It looks like so much fun!

This is such a fun event for anyone any age!

You are welcomed with organic homemade cordial followed by a one hour workshop where we create either Kokedamas, preserved Floral Crowns, glycerine soap with herbs/flowers (these are but a few workshops we offer) Then you are served a light lunch under the trees with a photographer on hand to capture this event. Our price options start from R300 p.p at a location or in the comfort of your home/garden.

7 You are also a photographer – tell us more about your photography and passion for the visual.

Always capturing family members and the kids my love for natural light and snapping a moment instead of a styled memory! My approach is natural working with natural light and documenting the gathering rather than staging it.
