heart-iconWhat a fabulous idea! Tell us how this idea was born?

Quite a few years ago, my husband came up with the idea of a bookclub for kids. Naturally, he approached Emily and I to help him with it – being moms and journalists! What evolved from there was many late nights of research and planning and dreaming and admin. Months would pass where we didn’t think about it at all, and then we’d hop back on to the idea, determined to make it work. We’re so very excited that we stuck through the times of despondency because we are very passionate about this and we just want all little ones to get bitten with the reading is rad bug.

What is your all-time favourite kiddie book?

I remember being absolutely fascinated with one book in particular – The Value of Believing in Yourself, The Story of Louis Pasteur by Spencer Johnson. It was an old, tattered book that had been passed down from my older sister and brother, but for some reason this book had me enthralled. I think it might have been the interesting story, with the moral behind it, as well as the way the book was illustrated. It made something that could be complicated to grasp very easy to understand.

You have two adorable kiddies – do they like to read and do they have favourites?

Our little ones adore reading. We’ve been reading to them since they were teeny tiny babies. There are lots of favourites in our house right now. Bailey loves Stuck by Oliver Jeffers, all the classic fairytales, The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr Seuss … I could go on. Robbie loves anything to do with trucks, diggers, mixers and fire engines. He also loves Fox’s Socks by Julia Donaldson, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Peekaboo Peter by Beatrix Potter and The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson

Why is storytime Club the perfect christmas gift?

Firstly it’s a gift that keeps on giving, as your little one will get three books delivered to them every single month. We love the Neil Gaiman quote: “Books make great gifts because they have whole worlds inside of them”. We want to instil that love of reading in as many little ones as possible – and Storytime Club makes it so much easier for parents to do that. We’re taking the hassle out of finding the right books for your kids and finding the time to get to the book store!

Oooh we want a sneak peek – what is your personal favourite book included in the 1st month’s selection?

You’ll have to wait and see!

How to subscribe:

It is so easy to subscribe and you may cancel your subscription at any time. The books are hand-picked by two mamas with little bookworms and your shipping is included in the monthly prize. Your child will receive three books with each delivery – two stories and one activity book – such a perfect gift for any little one!
